The central aim of landscape engineering is to safeguard ecological functions, protect species and habitats and sustainably develop nature and the landscape on the basis of the Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatSchG). It is part of environmental engineering and is incorporated into environmental reports, FFH impact assessments or landscape conservation plans.

Services

Landscape plans, green structure plans and landscape conservation plans (LBP)

  • Development of targeted concepts for the protection, maintenance and enhancement of nature and landscape
  • Consideration of legal requirements (e.g. BNatSchG) and regional characteristics

FFH and SPA management plans

  • Preparation and implementation of management plans in accordance with EU directives
  • Concrete planning of measures to protect valuable habitats and species

Conservation appraisals and condition surveys

  • Evaluation of areas with regard to their nature conservation significance
  • Detailed mapping and analysis of biotopes and habitats

Species protection programs

  • Development of targeted measures to protect endangered species
  • Monitoring and success control of species protection measures

Planning and implementation of nature conservation measures (CEF and compensatory measures)

  • Strengthening the biotope network, protecting endangered species and habitats as well as renaturation and rewetting
  • Securing ecological functions and creating replacement habitats

Utilization concepts for conversion areas & recultivation plans

  • Development of concepts for areas formerly used for military or industrial purposes
  • Planning the sustainable reuse of post-mining landscapes

Tourism and visitor management

  • Control of leisure and recreational uses
  • Development of control and information systems

Watercourse development plans, water quality mapping

  • Measures for the ecological improvement of flowing and still waters
  • Evaluation of watercourse structures for sustainable development and renaturation

Renaturation

  • Restoration of natural and landscape functions, e.g. in forests, on agricultural land, along bodies of water or in former quarries
  • Promoting biodiversity and ecological resilience
